Objectives
Responsible for the implementation, service, and support of the Chugach Electric infrastructure
Key Production Areas of Support:
Monitoring of the environment to include wireless, LAN, network storage, server, virtualization, and security
Support of the infrastructure to include wireless, LAN, network storage, server, virtualization, and security
Configuration of infrastructure to include wireless, LAN, network storage, server, virtualization, software, and security
Troubleshooting of the infrastructure to include wireless, LAN, network storage, server, virtualization, software, and security
Implementing, upgrading, and maintaining new hardware, software, and infrastructure in the environment
Responsibilities and Authorities
Performs Personally:
Implements technology solutions to meet business requirements
Collaborates with other teams to meet the needs of Chugach Electric
Responsible for the development of current state documentation and knowledge base for deployed technology solutions. Updates documents regularly, and maintains accurate documentation on system performance and operational activities
Escalates issues and/or problems to direct manager
Responds to tickets, service requests, and alerts from monitoring systems. Monitors work queue and takes appropriate action
Ensures availability and viability of deployed technologies through equipment lifecycle
Patches and updates infrastructure systems. Executes standard changes as managed by change control
Support, manage, and resolve major incident events
Maintains technical fluency and works to increase knowledge and skills
May be required to travel to support remote equipment or for training opportunities
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Relationships
Internal
Manager, IS Operations
Reports to and receives directions from. Keeps manager informed of progress and problems and escalates to as needed
Under the direction of the manager, supports and maintains Chugach infrastructure
Project Manager, IS
Keeps Project Manager informed of progress, problems, and escalates to as needed
Programmers, Database Administrators, and Network Administrators
Provide technical direction regarding system configuration, connectivity, and support of infrastructure
Collaborate and provide expertise to improve efficiencies for new and existing system hardware and software platforms
Lead Support Specialist/PC Support Specialists
Provide technical direction and assistance
User Community
Provide direction and advise for infrastructure related issues and topics
Provide timely response and for infrastructure upgrades, troubleshooting, and support activities
External
Work with vendors and consultants as required to support Chugach Electric initiatives and infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Management Information Services, or related field. Minimum of five years combined experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified to include administration of network, server, storage, and security infrastructure

Current professional-level certification as network professional, systems engineer, storage administrator, virtualization, or information systems security. Minimum of seven years combined experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified to include administration of network, server, storage, and security infrastructure

Minimum of ten years combined experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified to include administration of network, server, storage, and security infrastructure
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills
Strong knowledge of IT best practices in the following areas:
Local area networking
Wireless technologies and security
Server technologies, including operating systems and virtualization
Network storage technologies
Network security principles and technology
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Capable of working independently or in a team environment
Must have the ability to author and maintain infrastructure procedures and documentation
Detailed knowledge regarding core vendor strategies for IS infrastructure
The ability to develop effective working relationships at all organizational levels
Ability to work effectively with other teams and management
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Demonstrated long and short-range planning skills
Ability to organize multiple tasks, schedules and meet shifting priorities
Ability to identify and implement changes and improvements that accomplish long-range objectives
Proactive identification of ways to enhance or improve service delivery to end users and technology standards
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
Working Conditions
Standard office environment
This position is subject to call-out outside of normal working hours, with occasional weekend work
Periodic travel to service and support remote facilities
Periodic travel to attend technical conferences, seminar
